Meschede - Germany This is constructed of either tin or aluminum and is an used medallion/stocknagel. From the largest single collection of stocknagel/medallions that I have obtained from Europe to this day. This is from a group of items that have been collected over the last 45 years. The ages of each individual item can not be determined unless they are date stamped. This stocknagel is to be mounted on a walking stick with two nails to show the places that they had visited. These are called either pins, mounts, shields, stocknagel, medallions, placckette/scudetti or badges and do the same thing as lapel or hat pins, they tell everyone where you have been and what you have seen. Meschede is a town in the Hochsauerland district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the capital of the district Hochsauerlandkreis. Thank you all for your interest.
